Top Attractions In Istanbul For Tourists

I thought to write about İstanbul trip route but than decided to write attractions because its good to know attractions for to plan.Will give some informations with photos.If want more informations ı will share links because I wrote about before some famous places in Istanbul.


1-The Hagia Sophia (Aya Sofya)

The Haiga Sophia is important of the historical architectural wonder. It's an artictic masterpiece and that wonder is at the historical peninsula in Istanbul.The Hagia Sophia is the biggest church constructed by East Roman Empire and its constructed three times.First chucrh constructed by Emperor Konstantios in 360.The second church was reconstructed bye Emperor Theodosios in 415 and the church was demolished in 532 after the public riot.The last church ws constructed by Emperor Justinianos. Architech Isidoros and Anthemios started to work in 532 and after 5 years they finished and church was opened worship whit a ceremony in 537.When Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered İstanbul The Hagia Sophia  renovated into mosque. the minarets designed bye Mimar Sinan. The Hagia Sophia was renovated a museum Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1935 after than tourist can visit and see that amazing place.

2-Blue Mosque(Sultan Ahmet Mosque)

Sultan Ahmet wanted to built a big construction for to show devotion to God. He was a good muslim so decided to built a mosque.Than Sultan searched place for mosque and liked a place but there was a palace at that place so they bought that area and paid  30 camel-load golds.In 1609  first dig touched sand bye Sultan Ahmet. After 7 years architect Sedefkar Mehmet Agha finished mosque. Sedefkar Mehmet Agha was student of Mimar Sinan.
Sultan Ahmet Mosque have 21.043 chinas and 260 windows so inside area is very bright and when sunshine come inside chinas shining blue so europians call Blue Mosque.

3.Topkapı Palace

Especially after historical Ottoman tv series Topkapı Palace become more popular.Especially Magnificent century people interested in Ottoman history and life.
Topkapı Palace construction started in 1460 and was finished in 1478.Palace had 700.000 squaremeters area and 5 kilometers city wall. Topkapaı Palace was built İstanbul peninsula and before there was Eastern Roman Empire Acropolis that area. Topkapı Palece between Marmara sea, Bosphorus and the Golden Horn.Many Sultan used that palace about 400 years, when Dolmabahçe Palace was built by Sultan Abdulmecit, Ottoman dynasty moved to Dolmabahçe Palace but Topkapı Palace never lose importance.

4-Grand Bazaar

Grand Bazaar really important place in our list everyday thousends people visit and shoping in there.Grand Bazaar Grand Bazaar was center on Ottoman Empire economy.Grand Bazaar between Beyazıt and Nuruosmaniye mosques.First time ,Grand Bazaar's some part were built by Sultan Mehmet for to earn money The Hagia Sophia Mosque's needs.Another big parts were built by Magnificent Suleiman.
At he Grand Bazaar can find everything there are very good quality fabrics, carpets,rugs, traditional clothes, uniforms, porcelains antiques and valuables, glasswares,towels,cheesecloth, restaurants, traditional meals. so can say that find everthing in there.

5-Basillica Cistern

Basillica Cistern is really have mystic atmosphere and anyway there are a efw myth about basillica cistern
Basillica Cistern was constructed by Justinianus I  542 AD. It was built for Grand Palace water neccesary but it look like temples. It look sumptuous so people called Basillica Palace.But dont any information why they called Basillica its name.Can read for basillica cistern our old article.

6.Galata Tower

Galata tower is symbols of istanbul and galata district.There are many rumors how it was built. At the rumors tower was built in 507 bye Emperor Lustianos. At he same time Genoese called the Jesus Tower Byzantiums called Big Tower.A the latest version tower which most closely resembles was built in 1384 bye Genoesians colony , was the highpoint city walls.At the Ottoman period, tower was used as dungeon, observatory,fire lookout tower. Tower was restored many times , earthquakes, fires,storms affected many times. Hazerfan Ahmet Çelebi flied to Üsküdar from to Galata Tower whit artificial wings in 1638.

7.Maiden's Tower

Another symbol of Istanbul.Look like a pearl inside of Bosphorus.There are a few myth about Maiden's tower history.Buy their finals sadness.There is no clear and and precise information that when it was building and by whom,but  its first time that To be mentioned BC 411 at the historical sources. there is certain information at DC 5 , Athenian commander of Alisbad had built customhouse and took money from merchantman. That place had used many years  customhouse, lighthouse, quarantine hospital,prison.

8.Dolmabahce Palace

Topkapı Palace become not enough for meetings so Sultan Abdulmecit decided to built new palace so gave that duty architects Garabet Balyan and his son Nikoğos. Abdulmecit Sultan was thirty first Ottoman Sultan.They finished Dolmabahce Palace between 1843-1856.That years Otoman was weak but they built magnificent Palace.Domabahce Palace consist, State Apartments, Ceremonial Halls and Imperial Harem.State Apartments for administrative affairs .Imperial Harem for Sultan's private live, his family and their private live.Ceremonial halls for special days and welcome ceremonies

9.Chora Museum

It is a church structure that is the center of the Chora monastery, a large building complex during the Eastern Roman Empire and dedicated to Jesus.Chora mean is out of city in Greek language.They called Chora because church was out of Kostantinople city walls.Magnificent mosaics and frescoes depict the life of Jesus and his mother, Mary. Chora was a monastery in its early years; a few centuries later, it became a mosque, and in 1948, it was converted to a museum

10.Taksim Square,Beyoglu and Istiklal Street

Taksim is a famous place in Byoglu at İstanbul.Its very crowded everytime foreign and domestic tourists visit that area becuase there are famous shops, cheap shops, nostalgia tram, cafes, restaurants,pubs,culture and arts houses and centers,churches and Embassy buildings.Entertainment sector works until morning taksim and istiklal do not sleep , always can see people outside especially at weekends 24 hours people enjoying in that place.
