Side Apollon Temple

Temple get its name Apollon who the light god of Greek mythology.The Side Apollo Temple is one of the most important ancient buildings of Antalya area, not just Side.

Side Ancient City and Theater

Ancient theater is one of the different architectural style in Anatolia.There are 17.000 person capacity.In summer season there are some activities in there (especially concerts)

Ancient theater It was used as an arena for gladiatorial races and animal fights during the Imperial Period.

Kas Is One Of The Beautiful Resort In Turkey

Where is Kas

Kas is one of the pearl resort in Mediterranean coast.Nature show its most beautiful combine blue and green.White houses join that good combine.Kas is typical mediterranean resort but there are some plus features.History,sea,nature,sport activities,blue tours and amazing clear beaches.Firstly I will share list of places to visit in Kas.

1.Kalkan (Kalamaki)

Kalkan is a tourist town situated to the Kas district of Antalya.

Kalkan far from 25 kilometers to Kas.It was located alongside a beautiful cove.It attracts thousands of tourists every year with its facilities,hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and shopping spots.Kalkan 'ın architectural structure and urban texture are not distorted much.The yacht harbor provideall all the needs of the incoming boats.

2.Saklıkent Canyon

Saklıkent is  60 kilometers distance to Kas.Saklıkent canyon is  a natural wonder which  is reach by passing a bridge 100 meters long.

The length of the canyon is 18 km and visitorc can walk about 6 kilometers in canyon.There are fish restaurants and trout farms.

Canyon is a good place for to far away hot summer weather.

3.Patara Ancient City

Patara is 41 kilometers distance to Kas.The ancient city is spread over a wide area in the eastern side of the port.City and port located at  the entrance to the valley which has about 3 kilometers length.
The city also has an important position in the Byzantine period. Because Saint-Nicholas (Santa Claus) was from Patara.Saint Paul used Patara port for to go Rome.Patara was the bishopric center during the Early Christian Period.

4.Xanthos Ancient City

Xantos is on the Unesco world heritage list.Ancient city is situated to the Kınık small town.

to Kas.Xanthos was the capital of the Lycia.The first researches in the ancient city were made by Charles Fellows in 1838 and unfortunately they abducted  the magnificent grave monuments, the Nereids Monument, the Harpyler Monument, the Payave Sarcophagus, the Lion Grave,to the British Museum.

5.Kaputas Beach

A natural wonder Kaputas beach is 19 kilometers distance to Kas.

Golden yellow of sand color and every tone of blue increases the attractiveness of the beach. Do not need to say that the sea is clean.But there are 192 steps to descend at beach.

Turkey has blue flags sea especially at Mediterranean region so many people prefer that region and kleopatra is one of clear beach at Alanya nad most famous one.Why people called that beach Kleopatra because when Egypt queen Kleopatra campaign Mediterranean she visited Alanya and spent time this beach.The coast continues throughout the city.There are hotel near coast but all people can use beach free.

Kızıl Kule (Red Tower)

 Red Tower is symbol of Alanya and Alanya castle.When climb tower you will see amazing view Alanya and sea are under your foots.

According to myth while built that tower architects used eggs so tower took red colors.

Must visit Alanya castle too its so old structure some parts come from Hellenistic ages but main part built by Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I and Ottomans conquest Alanya Fatih Sultan Mehmet age.People say that castle have magnetic area so stones do not fall in sea and stick castle stones.

Damlataş Cave

Damlataş cave is a wonderful place in nature wonder and its interesting that that area discovered during harbor construction in 1048.I will say one interesting thing too the temperature is always the same(22.3 degree summer and winter) people say that inside climate making better Asthma patients so if you have that health problem and want to see a nature wonder you must see there.

There is airport at Alanya since 2012 so if you will visit here without tourism agency you must use Alanya Gazipasa Airport.There are many hotels and motel per budget but I advice that take reservation because summer season its hard to find hotels and early reservations have advantages.

Myra Ruins and Saint Nikolaos

Myra Ruins

Myra ruins are located in district Kale(Demre) in Antalya region.Myra was a Lycia city.Lycia period's tombs,antique theater and Saint Nikolaos Church ( Santa Claus) are attentions domestic and foreign tourists.Every year many tourists visit there.

According to tombs,Lycian inscriptions and coins,At the least there was a city 5th century B.C. After 2th century A.D Lycian richs improved city, constructed new buildings and restored.Myra became important city for Lycia.

Myra was very famous at

Byzantium period.İt was important for religion and administrative.Because Saint Nikolaos was living in Myra.He was very famous in that region.According to myth, he has liked children and sailors liked and repect him much.Even they used Nikolaos icon at ships and they weare saying 'Saint Nikholaos save yours helm' before go sailing.Saint Nikolaos Church was built in 6th century after when Nikolaos died.Currentyl church was built in 8th century.After floods and earthquakes Myra become a village in 12th century.

Located in the southern foothills of the Acropolis theatre have Roman Empire periods charec typical features.Rows of seats and platform building are strong still.There are tombs near theater.Some tombs have glyphs.That glyphs about deceased and his relatives.

Myra ruins enterance is 15 Turkish Lira and museum of the Saint Nikolaos enterance is 15Turkish Lira.Demre is far away about 280 kilometers from Antalya.There is bus from Antalya to Demre.

Maiden Castle

Maiden castle or old name Korykos, it is a small town far away from 60 kilometers west of Mersin. That coastal town is hidden treasure of the Mediterranean It has good climate,beautiful sight, wide  beaches and clear sea ( has blue flag).Especially domestic toursits visit there so foreign toursits not dense, not much crowded so peaceful and calm, much suitable for families.

Mersin is situated at southern Anatolia, near Mediterranean sea.There is bus from Antalya, İzmir and İstanbul and there is a airport at Mersin so transportation is easy.Maiden Castle is located district Erdemli.

History of Maiden Castle

Maiden castle was built on small island 200 meters far away from seashore.Korykos was by clonists who came from Aegean 4th centruy B.C.After Roma Emperor Pompeius clenaed Kilikya pirates, Korkya become a center of trade.According to Herrodotus Korykos was founded by prince of Cyprus.When Syrian King Antonious the second, in 197 BC counquered Eygpt’s coasts again, for the first time this city’s name is mentioned.Maiden castle was built by Byzantium Commander Eusthatios in 1104 for to defence lands.

Legends of Maiden Castle

That legend is similiar the Maiden Tower in İstanbul.Once upon a time there was a king living in this region who loved his daughter very much. According to the myth, one fortune teller had said to the king that his daughter would be killed by a snake.Than , in order to protect his daughter the king built a castle in the sea.His dauuhter started to live in castle.IN a celebration in castle, a woman send a basket of grapes but there was a snake in basket.When princes come to her room, she wanted to eat grapes than snake bited her and she died.

Mersin could be a choice for a persons who dont like crowded place. İt has very clear beaches and touristical places, its easy to visit Antakya from to Mersin.

Antalya is capital city of tourism in Turkey. Many foreign and local tourists visit Antalya every year ( 11,1 million visitor come to Antalya in 2014 ). Especially Russian and German visitors prefer Antalya and there are many Russian people live in Antalya and around I think that when they Antalya they dont think to come back.Why Antalya is very famous, because Antalya is near Mediterranean and have Mediterranean climate so tourism season is long and has hot weather.Antalya has very clear beaches ( have blue flag),historical and natural touristy places.

Antalya's old name was Antalela.In the time it become Antalya.Antalya's mean is Attolos homeland, Attolos was founder of Antalya city. Previously, Antalya was important city too, it was trade city in Anatolia so Seljuks, Byzantium and Ottoman Empire were built many things and gave importance.

What I will see at Antalya ;

Antalya Beaches 

Antalya have 500 kilometers coastline so have many beaches.Some beaches for public some beaches are for hotels. Many beaches have blue flag Antalya so they are very clear.

Kleopatra Beach 

It's at the west of Alanya and has 2 kilometers coastline and very wide.Has good sand and fordable sea. Reportedly, Kleopartra had bath in that area.

Konyaaltı Beach

It is at west of Antalya and far about 3 kilometers. That beach has gravel and sand mix. It is a public beach and has hotels and restaurants around.

Lara Beach

It is at east of Antalya and far about 12 kilometers. That beach has good sand and pine trees around, is public beach

Another beaches ; Incekum, Doğu, Ulaş, Sorgun, Koru, Adalar, Kemer, Phaselis, Patara. I will write an detailed article about that beaches later.

Ancient Cities

Antalya region is very old and important port  in history so has many historical structure.I will give more information about them but now I will write a little things

Aspendos 

Aspendos in the east of Antalya and about far 48 kilometers.There is an ancient theater in Aspendos which most protected ancient theater in Turkey.It was constructed bye Arthitect Zeno who was son of Theodoros.

Patara

Patara Antique city is between Fetiye- Kaş, far from 41 kilometers Kaş.It was one of important city Lykia region in antique ages. It was important port for Byzantium and Roman Empires.

Antiphellos

Antiphellos was connecting road between Karia and Lykia. İt was an important port city.

Myra

Myra is in the district Demre and around, there are Lykia rock tombs , Roman Empire theatre and St. Nicholas Church from Byzantium Empire age.

Xanthos

Xanthos is far about 45 kilometers from Kaş in Kınık township. Xanthos was most important religious and administrative center.

There is four national park and a natura park in Antalya region.

Night Life

There is an actine night life in Antalya and another districts.Especially summer season opening bar and discos at marina area. There are some little rock bars at Kaleiçi streets and entertainment continues until the morning.
