Dolmabahce Palace

İstanbul has a rich history because Byzantium Empire and Ottoman Empire lived here many years and that Empires gave many vestiges İstanbul.Domabahce one of the Ottoman empire vestige near Bosphorus.Domabahce look like a pearl near Bosphorus and completing each other.

Topkapı Palace become not enough for meetings so Sultan Abdulmecit decided to built new palace so gave that duty architects Garabet Balyan and his son Nikoğos. Abdulmecit Sultan was thirty first Ottoman Sultan.They finished Dolmabahce Palace between 1843-1856.That years Otoman was weak but they built magnificent Palace.

Domabahce Palace consist, State Apartments, Ceremonial Halls and Imperial Harem.State Apartments for administrative affairs .Imperial Harem for Sultan's private live, his family and their private live.Ceremonial halls for special days and welcome ceremonies


Some information about Dolmabahce Palace

  • The outside of the building is mode of stone, the interior walls are made of brick and the floors are made of wood
  • Between 1910-12 added electrical and heating system
  • There are  usable floor area of 45,000 square meters, 285 rooms, 44 halls and 6 hamams
  • Ceremonial Hall has amazing features, its  2000 square meters, 56 columns, a dome of 36 meters high and an English chandelier which is 4.5 tons.Sultan wanted to show Ottoman Empire's power with ceremony hall.

Six Ottoman Empire Sulan lived Dolmabahce Palace until 1924.Than Palace used presidency palace between 1027-1949.Mustafa Kemal Ataturk died at Dolmabahce Palace 10 November,1938.Dolmabahce become museum palace since 1984.

How I can Go Dolmabahce Palace

Dolmabahce is in Besiktas region at İstanbul so can walk there about 15 minutes from Taksim or can use any bus,ferry, tram towards Besiktas.It can be visited from 09:00 to 16:00 every day except Monday and Thursday.The full ticket is 30, the discount ticket is 15 Lira.It can change because some part has extra fee.

Pierre Loti Hill and Golden Horn View

Pierre Loti Hill very famous for this view.There is  a cafe at that hill and its name Pierre Loti cafe.Want to tell some information about Pierre Loti and about this hill.His name is Julien Valud and he was novelist, naval officer,orientalist.lover of Turkey and Turkish people.


Pierre Loti have been in İstanbul many times when he came to İstanbul first time he was a naval officer, in 1876.Ottoman life and culture affected him much. He stayed a year in İstanbul. By the way, he started to came that hill for to watch Golden Horn view and have serenity.There was a '' Rabi Kadın Kahvehanesi'' cafe at hill. At rumours Pierre Loti felt in love a Ottoman lady who was living near hill.Anyway Pierre Loti gaved her name on hin novel, her name is Aziyade.Pierre Loti mentioned about Aziyade and Ottoman life at his novel.


At rumours, Pierre Loti wrote his Aziyade novel at that cafe.Currently many people visit there and watch taht amazing view , especially lovers come there..Istanbul municipality was built touristy palces in 2000.There is cafe, narghile cafe, Azadiye Restaurant, terrace cafe, historical cafe and Turquhouse hotel and some souvenir shops.Can see Galata Tower,Blue Mosque,The Hagia Sophia,Golden Horn and Golden Horn bridge from Pierre Loti Hill


How Can Visit There

Pierre Loti Hill is in İstanbul , district Eyup.Firstly must go Eyup district.Therefore can use bus and metrobus, Avcılar -Kadıköy metrobus route go Pierre Loti Hill.Another way,there is a teleferic from Eyup Sultan Mosque to Pierre Loti Hill.

Ortakoy Mosque


Ortaköy Mosque is pearl of the Bosphorus.People called Ortaköy Mosque but it have different names too, Grand Imperial Mosque and Sultan Abdülmecit are another names. Ortaköy Mosque is situated at waterside of the Ortaköy pier square at Europian continent and very popular location.


Ortaköy Mosque was built baroque style and its designer was Nikoğos Balyan and built for Sultan Abdülmecit. Previously there was a little mosque at that area and it was built bye Mahmut Agha (the son-in law of Vizier İbrahim Pasha ) in 1721.but ıt was destroyed during Patrona Halil riot in 1730.The current mosque restored many times, fires,earthquake and sea affected.



When visit Ortaköy Mosque can take amazing photos and watch amazing Bosphorus view, can drink
something at waterfront cafes.Especially at weekend Ortaköy square very popular and crowded.Ortaköy Kumpir is very famous so must taste it. Kumpir as like a patotoes sandwich without bread.There are peas,cheese , corn,ketchup, mayonnaise, baked patotoes, olive,sausage,Russian salad in kumpir but ingredients can change seasons.

Blue Mosque or Sultan Ahmet Mosque

           Blue Mosque

Emperor Justinianus wanted to built a construction more bigger than Temple of Solomon, Sultan Selim II had built Selimiye Mosque bigger than Hagia Sophia and Sultan Ahmet wanted to built a big construction for to show devotion to God. He was a good muslim so decided to built a mosque.Than Sultan searched place for mosque and liked a place but there was a palace at that place so they bought that area and paid  30 camel-load golds.In 1609  first dig touched sand bye Sultan Ahmet. After 7 years architect Sedefkar Mehmet Agha finished mosque. Sedefkar Mehmet Agha was student of Mimar Sinan.

           Why Europian Call Blue Mosque

Sultan Ahmet Mosque have 21.043 chinas and 260 windows so inside area is very bright and when sunshine come inside chinas shining blue so europians call Blue Mosque.

           Features of Blue Mosque

  • Have 6 minaret and it is only Blue Mosque have 6 minaret in Turkey
  • Have 260 window,height 43 m. central dome's diameter 23,5 m.  worship area 2646 square meters
  • Have about 50 kind of chinas
  • Sultan spent about 1,5 million golds
  • Mosque have bazaar, school,soup kitchen,türkish bath,Sultan Ahmet tomb
  • Mosque's courtyard have 26 column and 30 dome 

  How Can Visit There

Blue Mosque is at the Sultan Ahmet Square and near Hagi Sophia and that area is very popular for foreign tourists. Everbody can visit there whitout pay money and muslim people use mosque still and its the biggest mosque in istanbul.

            History of The Hagia Sophia


 Don't worry will not say much things about history just important things will say so dont bother you about historical things.The Haiga Sophia is important of the historical architectural wonder. It's an artictic masterpiece and that wonder is at the historical peninsula in Istanbul.The Hagia Sophia is the biggest church constructed by East Roman Empire and its constructed three times.First chucrh constructed by Emperor Konstantios in 360.The second church was reconstructed bye Emperor Theodosios in 415 and the church was demolished in 532 after the public riot.The last church ws constructed by Emperor Justinianos. Architech Isidoros and Anthemios started to work in 532 and after 5 years they finished and church was opened worship whit a ceremony in 537.When Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered İstanbul The Hagia Sophia  renovated into mosque. the minarets designed bye Mimar Sinan. The Hagia Sophia was renovated a museum Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1935 after than tourist can visit and see that amazing place.


              How Can Visit  The Hagia Sophia

The Hagia Sophia is at he Sultan Ahmed Square and that place is very famous .

              Tramway

Ride Bagcılar-Kabatas tram line and stop Gulhane or Sultan Ahmet sitation.

              Train

Ride Sirkeci- Halkalı commuter rail line and come to Sirkeci and than ride tramway.

             Steamship

If you at Anatolian side of can use steamship.Kadiköy_Eminönü , Üsküdar-Eminönü steamship line come to Eminönü than can ride tramway .
  
              But if dont know and afraid to lose can ride on taxi and its easy way for to come .
               


  • At the summer season ( 15 April - 1 November 

  • The Hagia Sophia is a museum so must buy ticket for to come inside and box-office close at 6 pm in the summer season
  • Ticket cost is 25 Turkish Lİra

  • The Hagia Sophia is closed at mondays.
